Cheshire Weekend Round Up!

Left to right. Lee Wainwright, Ian Finlay, Jacci Alexander, Ian Burton and Mark Disley

Saturday and Sunday 3rd-4th August saw the The 57th Cheshire Archery Association N.C.A.S. Star & Cheshire Archery Association WA 1440 Incorporating the English Archery Federation Target Championships and also the Cheshire Championships & Open York Hereford, Rose Award both hosted at Neston Company of Archers at Wirral RUFC.

What a great weekend of shooting despite all types of weather ranging from blustery winds to hot sunshine but despite this CCB members had much to be pleased with over the weekend.

The WA1440 round on Saturday saw Ian Finlay pick up 1st place Cheshire gent and also Lee Wainwright pick up first place Cheshire Barebow along with the incorporated English Archery Federation 1st Place award.

Carol Bladen also picked up 60m Cheshire Lady compound distance award a fantastic result after only switching to compound from recurve this year.

Sunday’s round was a York and again Ian Finlay and Lee Wainwright did the double by picking up first place Cheshire gents in recurve and barebow respectively. Jacci Alexander picked up 2nd place Cheshire lady recurve and Ian Burton was awarded highest Bowman Classification score on the day.

To top things off Ian Finlay, Jacci Alexander and Ian Burton also won the Cheshire recurve team award which the club has not won for 61 years, previously winning in 1958 when the club was known as Chester Archers.

For the 2019 season Ian Finlay is Cheshire champion for the indoor championships, Fita 1440 and York round which is only the second time a Cheshire archer from the same club has held all three titles in the same year.
