Ian Burton had the honour of being selected to represent England in the 2022 CACE (Commonwealth Archery Championships of Europe) held in Kilmarnock along with 5 other Cheshire Archers. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland competed against each other in both team and mixed-team matches. Ian made it through to the bronze medal match with Jenny Collins where they faced stiff opposition against Patrick Huston and Emma Davies of Northen Ireland and despite some great shots lost out 6-0
Ian Burton, Derek Whittingham and Claudia Calderia also represented the county at the Inter County Tournament held at Lilleshall National Sports centre. Ian and the gents recurve team came 6th overall from a field of 20 county teams, Claudia was representing Cheshire for the first time in the Ladies Barebow and also finishing 6th in the mixed teams T1. Star of the day was Derek who won the T3 mixed team round and also picked up a bronze medal for Cheshire who finished 3rd overall highest compound team on the day. Excellent atmosphere and a brilliant turnout by Cheshire fielding 6 teams across the recurve, compound and barebow disciplines.
